Elder Abuse

Sadly, elder abuse cases are becoming more prevalent as the elderly population grows. A study published in 2015 by the National Institute of Justice showed that approximately 1 in 10 community-residing elders reported experiencing at least one form of elder mistreatment within the past year.

Many of these cases stem from neglect and abuse in skilled nursing facilities and residential care facilities, also known as assisted living facilities. Under-staffing these facilities is a huge problem, as is staffing these facilities with abusive employees that may inflict physical or emotional pain on residents out of frustration and anger. These cases are often shocking and unbelievable, but it does happen.

We are here to help you. If you believe you or your loved one is being physical or emotionally abused, you should contact the authorities and remove yourself or the victim from that situation immediately and find a new care provider.
